Gods of Egypt

This movie is being SLAMMED by the critics for inaccuracy, whitewashing the cast, and being a mess of a script. Did these critics watch the same movie I did? I easily give this movie 4 out of 5 stars...Keep reading.
Insanely adorable Brenton Thwaites plays Bek, narrator of the tale, of two brothers fight over one kingdom. There are not ONE but TWO heartbreaking love stories that immediately got me. The most prominent being between Bek and Zaya (Courtney Eaton) who have so much chemistry on-screen outshine Horus and Nephthys ("Game of Thrones" hottie Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and the beautiful Emma Booth). This made up for The Finest Hours and really felt a lot like  Clash of the Titans/Wrath of the Titans type of movie. I just don't see what the critics hated.

Basic logline is Horus is about to be crowned King of Egypt by his father but his uncle Set is unhappy about this, kills the current king (his brother and Horus' dad), beats the TAR outta Horus, steals his eyes, and rules Egypt. Steals his eyes? The Gods in this movie are about 7-10 feet tall and can transform into fighting creatures plus they have blood of gold. Blinded and exiled his ladylove Nephthys sides with Set in order to survive (but secretly longs for Horus' return). Meanwhile Bek would do anything to make Zaya happy...ANYTHING. He'd beg, borrow, steal, and kill for her. When Set takes over Egypt Zaya is enslaved and Bek will do anything he can to free her. Bek decides to steal back Horus' eyes from Set, return them to Horus, then Horus can finally defeat Set. But Horus is down and out with no self-esteem. A mortal convincing a God to have faith? I tell you this movie is GOOD. I didn't cringe or want to look away once. I just have a feeling the actors from this movie especially scene stealer Chadwick Boseman are going to have HUGE careers.

The movie does get 1 star deduction because Gerard Butler as the evil Set did not change his Irish accent; in fact none of the actors did. There WERE non-white folks in it. Heck Chadwick Boseman was cloned at least 100 times (part of the movie) hahaha Again I just didn't see what the critics saw, but overall loved this movie. And Geoffrey Rush makes an appearance as well.

Really wish this movie did better at the box office. :( Director Alex Proyas ("I, Robot") brought his A-game. The effects and cinematography is OUTSTANDING!  I feel like this was more of a summer blockbuster movie.
