Cinderella

"Have courage and be kind." Cinderella's dying mother says to her. Hence begins the retelling of a classic tale. It's raw, human, and perfect. I cannot find one fault in this movie. It even employs every race of people in the movie. Directed by Kenneth Branaugh and written by Chris Weitz ("American Pie" and "About A Boy" fame), I give this 10 stars out of 5. It's that good. Why? Insurgent

The sequel to Divergent is out, and I have mixed feelings about. I still will give it 4 stars out of 5, but it's missing one thing...Keep reading

The DUFF

It's not "She's All That" but kinda. It's not "Mean Girls" but kinda. It's not "Pretty in Pink" but kinda. The DUFF steals a tiny piece from all those movies and combines them into an updated version with hilarious results. I would have to give it 3 stars out of 5. Keep reading.

Still Alice

Still Alice - Movie Poster.jpg
"Still Alice" is a great movie about a woman in her 50s whom has early onset Alzheimer's Disease.

There isn't a ton to say about the film as it really is Julianne Moore acting her butt off. I really don't want to give away spoilers or anything, but she really is amazing. The supporting cast is just as a amazing, but I'm shocked Kristin Stewart won a Cesar for Best Supporting Actress. Hmmm

Yeah 5 stars. Great movie. Flawless script and direction.

Foxcatcher

There isn't a love story. There isn't a happy ending. And the leads are three men. It's the true story of Olympic wrestling brothers Mark & Dave Schultz (Channing Tatum & Mark Ruffalo respectively) whom meet the eccentric millionaire John duPont (Steve Carrell). John sponsors a wrestling team called Team Foxcatcher (named after Foxcatcher Farm where John lives). Easily 5 stars...no question. Keep reading.

CHAPPiE

Usually people say "if you liked (insert past movie title) you'll like (insert current movie title)." This is 100% true with "CHAPPiE." "If you liked 'District 9' you will LOVE 'CHAPPiE.'" And I'm gonna give this movie 4 stars, here's why...

Birdman

"Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance)" is the story of washed former action hero Riggan Thomson played by Michael Keaton. Riggan wants to resuscitate his acting career at 60 by directing/writing/producing/acting in a Broadway play. Zach Galifianakis plays his attorney and best friend, Emma Stone is his daughter and personal assistant, Naomi Watts is his co-star, Amy Ryan is his ex-wife, and Edward Norton is Broadway's hottest star and his new male co-star. I give it 4 stars. Keep reading...

Jupiter Ascending

SIGH....BIG SIGH. I wanted to like this movie. I wanted to LOVE this movie. Brought to us by Andy & Lana Wachowski (the siblings that created The Matrix trilogy, Cloud Atlas, and V for Vendetta). This movie had the potential for greatness, but it's execution takes the chunk of it. Hard 1 out of 5 stars. Keep reading.

Catch Hell

The male version of "Black Snake Moan" sees Ryan Phillippe as a once "It Boy" named Reagan who travels to New Orleans for a movie. He's then misled to believe the people picking him up are from the movie...they are not. And here begins Catch Hell. Keep reading...
