MIB 3

It surprised me that Will Smith didn't release his summer blockbuster during 4th of July weekend cuz normally that's his thing. I'm glad it was released early though cuz Will is back.

The movie is just as funny as the other two, but better than the first. Josh Brolin is DEAD ON as Tommy Lee Jones' K from the past. Sounds, walks, gestures exactly like him. And the script was very good. Made sense. All in all great movie.

I will say it didn't deserved the top spot. I'm sorry "The Avengers" still wins hands down. But I can see people wanting something different and this is an established movie franchise.

My only complaint was the woman whom brought her three and one year olds. They were crying and running around the theater. But that's not Will Smith's fault hahaha

90210

The new incarnation of "Beverly Hills, 90210" started in 2009. I LOVED the first run of the show so was excited for this new version. I was not disappointed. The first season was SO AMAZING!

Thing about the show I loved was it took all the characters from the original show and transposed them here.

Jim Walsh was Principal Harry Wilson
Cindy Walsh was Debbie Wilson
Brandon Walsh was adopted black son Dixon Wilson
Brenda Walsh was Annie Wilson
Kelly Taylor was Naomi Clark
Dylan McKay was Ethan
David Silver was Navid
Andrea Zuckerman was Erin Silver
Donna Martin was Adrianna Tate-Duncan
Nate was basically replaced by teacher Ryan

They then introduced a Steve character named Teddy Montgomery, replaced Ethan with Liam Court, and mixed in a character I now LOVE to hate Naomi's scheming sister Jen.

When I originally watched this show from Sept 2009 to Dec 2010 I don't think I appreciated it or Jen. She was unlike Georgina from Gossip Girl likeable but you hate her. Very multifaceted and played excellently by Sara Foster!!!!

My struggle now is watching the second season. Although it's good you can tell there's a new writer in charge. One character whom in the first season was DONE with his girlfriend cuz she was "crazy" is now begging her for another chance and lying to his best friend to win her over. UM did the new writer not watch the first season?

The best and most brilliant part is introduction of old characters. Brenda, Kelly, and Donna have been on. Kelly is Erin Silver's half-sister and guidance counselor at school. Donna is Erin's sister-in-law. The writers have done an amazing job incorporating them into the show without overkill.

The bad news it's getting what I call messy. Introducing new characters and mixing them with old was one thing I detested about the original that the current is doing. Thankfully the new people have added to growth of this new cast and haven't stayed but I just hate when shows do that.

My favorite character is probably Annie. Brenda was my fave character from original but I relate to Annie the most. I see where she comes from and why she does what she does. Plus I just LOVE Shenae Grimes hahaha She's sooooooo adorbs.

All in all check out "90210" but do what I did and watch it via Netflix from the beginning. Good summer program :)

The Raven

Going into the movie I wanted to be scared. I was creeped out not scared. And that's even better! The whole premise was someone was taking Edgar Allen Poe's (John Cusack) gruesome stories and making them actual murders.

It was smart, provocative, and made John Cusack sexy to be honest. I loved the intrigue and trying to figure out whom was the killer. Even in the end when it's revealed whom the killer is they get their just desserts.

All in all a good movie. The acting and storyline and suspense!!!! Def something I'm glad I saw on the big screen.

New Year's Eve

I wasted two hours of my life watching this HORRENDOUS mess. I didn't get it. I didn't like it. I was underwelmed. It's funny that I actually hoped it'd get better, but to my chagrin it didn't.

The thought of telling multiple storylines at once is great. I kinda like when they all come together in ONE story, but that's just my personal preference. This movie told too many stories and got lost in their own stories. It was kind of confusing to follow and even harder to watch (some great actors didnt act so great).

All in all wait for network TV. Not even cable is worth the time.

Blue Valentine

To say this movie was intense would be an understatement. It was intense because of the love story and realistic portrayal of a relationship's decline.

No fault on anyone's but Ryan Gosling SHOULD have been nominated and won the Academy Award for Lead Actor. He was brilliant from start to finish. Michelle did a fantastic job OF COURSE, but without Ryan as her acting partner her performance would've flopped. Leonardo DiCaprio could've been the only other person to do this movie.

I loved how Ryan who's BEAUTIFUL to look at (and a butt you can bounce a quarter off of) uglied himself up. Showing that sometimes in relationships you get so comfortable you let yourself go. And even ugly Ryan Gosling I'd still marry.

But all in all Michelle deserved her Academy Award nomination...but so did Ryan. And the story was sooooo real. LOVED IT!

The Dictator

"The Dictator" is the first scripted movie from Sasha Baron Cohen and Larry Charles. It's not bad but it lacks the clear direction and humor of previous. Previously "Borat" and "Bruno" had a mission and it was very clear. The things that ensued from that were funny. This although there were a TON of funny moments I got lost as to why they were in America. (shrugs)

Hopefully they go back and not fix what ain't broken.

The Lucky One

Let me start off by saying I have hated Zac Efron just as long as I've hated Justin Bieber. Too teeny bopper to me. Although I have watched "High School Musical" trilogies but just don't like the actors.

Then I saw "The Lucky One" and the lucky one here is his co-star. He FILLED OUT! At first I wanted to see cuz they show ZEfron skin but he's actually a great actor and the storyline was good. Notice I said GOOD. The "bad guy" in the film is overacting. It's a classic case of good girl/good guy/bad guy. It's too obvious. In watching "Titanic" you hate Billy Zane's character but you can understand he's not cartoonish.

Blythe Danner was hilarious as Jane Fonda's Georgia from "Georgia Rule" haha Ok I'm being sarcastic but that's how her character acted. Very brash and fun. A spitfire.

Overrall not a bad movie...to watch...on cable.

My Week with Marilyn

Sorry but Meryl stole Michelle Williams' Oscar. This should've been her year. Not only did Michelle sound, walk, talk, and dress like Marilyn but she WAS Marilyn. I was in awe of her. I went back and saw interviews with Marilyn and was FLOORED!

If this was a contest to see whom portrayed the best real person between Meryl's "Margaret Thatcher" and Michelle's "Marilyn" Michelle wins in my book.

The entire movie was well-paced and I thought amazing. The writing, directing, and acting. But Michelle WAS this movie. Heart-and-soul. I'm upset she didn't win. This is Jen Linley from "Dawson's Creek" and now she's a 3-Time Academy Award nominee. SO PROUD OF HER! (Yes three time "Brokeback Mountain," "Blue Valentine," and "My Week with Marilyn").

She needs to win soon! It's ridic she lost this year. Seriously!!!!

the one about Season/Series Finales

So I watched the season Finales of "Once Upon A Time," "Glee," "The Vampire Diaires," "Grimm," "Law & Order: SVU," "Revenge," and "Modern Family." As well as the series finales of "Ringer," "GCB," "Desperate Housewives," "The River," and "Missing."

Now I'm going to be honest on a whole not all lived up to their premiere except MAYBE "Grimm" and "Once..." but "Revenge," "Modern Family," and "L&O:SVU" blew me away!!!!!BIBLE!

I was shocked that "Ringer" was cancelled while "90210" wasnt as it's finale scored 0.98million. Also "GCB" being SO FUNNY how that was cancelled is beyond me. It could've easily replaced "Desperate Housewives" whose series finale was abmissal at best. It made zero sense and the stories wrapped WAY too quick for a show whom ENTERED it's last season. Pacing/plotting were horrendous and they left out characters (ie. Why wasn't Andrew or Danielle there for their mother's MURDER trial?). After watching all these seasons I was pissed.

While "Missing" and "The River" I was like "meh whatever." "Ringer" was a shock. I thought it'd go on. (shrugs)

Shame on "The Vampire Diaries" as they SHOCKED myself it's first season. I literally gasped at the 1st season finale! It was brilliant. Since then BOO!

"Glee" was the BIGGEST disappointment. I have never been so let down. Not only was I surprised at whom was a senior and whom was an underclassmen (nope they ALL weren't seniors) I was shocked at how some seniors never wrapped up stories. This should've been a two hour finale as they clearly don't know how to spread out story throughout the season. The fault is to be put on Ryan, Brad, and Dante. They previously wrote every episode from Season 1-2 but had the brilliant idea to add writers. By brilliant I mean awful. The BEST addition to the show is Roz aka NeNe Leakes. She is what Sue Sylvester use to be except her venom is specifically at Sue and she actually cares about people. My fave character. They spent way too much time on Rachel and not enough explaining EVERYONE! Overall I'd give the Finale a C- high D.

"Once.." and "Grimm" were pretty good tho. ESPECIALLY "Once..." that made me yell at my screen "NO DON'T GO I HAVE QUESTIONS!!!" hahaha "Grimm" was like "WTF?" kinda how "The Vampire Diaries" did their 1st season finale in a good way. Cannot wait for both of those shows.

Onto THE BEST finales. "Law & Order: SVU" in my mind this season has been stumbling. Some shows have been wowing me others lackluster. The season finale made my mouth agape. The last 5 minutes WOW! I love when shows use their history to suck us in. This did that. I will be chomping at the bit all summer. "Modern Family"...it's tough to conclude a season a comedy but this was HILARIOUS and befitting. This again made up for the uneven writing for the entire season of this show too. And finally "Revenge" has been an AMAZING first season. I was hooked from day one. And the season finale lived up to the entire season. LOVE LOVE LOVE this show. The whole premise got blown out of the water and I had goosebumps.

All in all for that many shows and only TWO wowed me. Movies have been my next form of entertainment OR lately I have been going back and watching shows that have been cancelled.

Battleship

(HUGE SIGH)

Let me start off by saying I wanted to like this movie. Alexander Skarsgard plus Taylor Kitsch. I mean that alone got me to watch. BUT Rihanna and the script were B.A.D. After 20 minutes I stopped watching.

This movie was suppose to be Independence Day in the water in my mind but it turned out to be a D-movie version of that idea. SO SO SO BAD!

I can't even state anymore on this cuz it's just that bad.

(HUGE SIGH)

The Avengers

By far the best Superhero movie EVER! I'm not saying that because it's made $1billion in 19 days. I'm saying that because of Joss Whedon.

For those not in the know Joss Whedon is the genius behind Toy Story (wrote the Oscar winning script) and Buffy The Vampire Slayer (both the movie AND the series). He wrote the movie and didn't direct it. Because the movie didn't live up to HIS script he created the series. He also wrote Marvel and DC comics (which ones I can't recall). He's a huge FANBOY!

He was on track to write and direct Wonder Woman but Warner Bros. rejected his script so he went to write and direct The Avengers. The reason it works so well is because Joss took liberties to watch Iron Man and Iron Man 2, Thor, and Captain America: The First Avenger AND he possibly viewed The Incredible Hulk late night on cable BUT he also read the comics. After doing all his research THEN he wrote the script. AH-MAH-ZING!

I saw this movie twice in the theaters. Flawless. There isn't anything wrong with the movie EXCEPT for pacing towards the end. One part I thought the movie was going to end cuz it had been TWO HOURS it kept going. I was happy but it just felt longer than it's running time.

His strength in plot and character is matched by the actual dialogue. I will buy this the minute it comes on DVD and I can't wait for the extras.
