Vice

"Vice" was the worst biopic I have ever seen. I'm not saying Christian Bale as Dick Cheney, Amy Adams as Lynne Cheney, or Steve Carrell as Donald Rumsfeld don't deserve Oscar nominations. But that script and direction by Adam McKay were TERRIBLE! He tried doing something different, and it failed miserably.

The trailer makes it seems like your average biopic, but once you get into the movie it's something else.  The information about Dick Cheney's life and how he basically controlled the Bush Administration under George W. Bush was informative, but it was so badly directed I ended up walking out 20 minutes before the movie ended. I'm gonna give it 2 stars out of 5 simply because of the performances. Just awful execution.

Glass

"Glass"...sigh. M. Night, M. Night, M. Night...DAFUQ?! Lemme start of by giving it a 4 stars out of 5...and that's being generous.

SOOOOOOOO this is the most uneven movie that I've ever liked. And what's crazy is watching it feels like different people wrote it; nope just one.

The story picks up 19 years after "Unbreakable" the movie about a vigilant who cannot break a bone, get sick, and has super human strength nicknamed by the media as The Overseer (Bruce Willis). Still reeling from finding out Elijah Price "Mr. Glass" (Samuel L. Jackson), the man with brittle bone disease, caused horrific accidents around the world for decades including the train wreck David was the sole survivor of, simply to find him. David has his own home security business with his son Joseph (Julianne Moore's hot son she gave up for adoption Spencer Treat Clark). When David and Joseph find out Kevin Crumb a man with multiple personalities (expertly played by James MacAvoy) is holding another set of girls hostage, they go on a stakeout to find him. When the girls are rescued, the police decide to arrest both David and Kevin (David's vigilante justice doesn't sit well with the police). Instead of carting them off to jail they go to Raven Hill Hospital head up by Dr. Ellie Staple (Sarah Paulson) who doesn't believe in superheroes. Oddly enough it's the same place Eljiah Price has been for 19 years. When Elijah gets wind of David and Kevin in the hospital with him, he hatches a plan to expose the world to their superhero abilities.

No spoilers sorry! But again sounds amazing especially for movie fans like me. But here we go again with M. Night Shyamalan writing characters as fools as he did in Split. Characters are standing and staring instead of running, talking instead of fighting, and going out towards danger instead of away. I understand dramatic license, but when you have such a well-laid perfectly crafted plot to dumb down the characters cheapens the plot. I will say his last minute plot twists...there were too many. The first one was a good twist, second one wasn't, then third one made up for the second one being so bad and unnecessary.

Again overall a good movie, just wish the plot and the characters matched. I fully expect a sequel. And I will watch that too probably :)

This one was tough for me to watch...because I dunno if Mahershala will steal Rami's Oscar haha Easy to rate 5 stars.

In this biopic Mahershala Ali portrays Dr. Don Shirley, the lead pianist in the Don Shirley Trio. He hires Frank Anthony Vallelogna Jr aka "TonyLip" (Viggo Mortensen) to drive him to his concert dates in the US particularly the deep south guided by The Negro Motorist Green Book. The two men butt heads, learn from each other, and become friends throughout the experience. And show me and the audience just how far this world has come since the 1960s, but also how much farther we have to go.

Viggo Mortensen as an Italian man from NY. And Mahershala as the upcrest Black man. SO GOOD! Rush out to see.

Another 5 star movie. This time from producer/director/star Clint Eastwood.

Based on a true story Eastwood plays recently homeless horticulturalist Earl Stone. The 90 year old man unknowingly becomes a drug mule driving guns and drugs back and forth to a hotel for the Mexican cartel. The money he earns helps change not only his life for the better but his relationship with his family. But at the same time Bradley Cooper, DEA Agent Colin Bates, is closing in the Mexican cartel and it's US mules.

At first I didn't like Earl, but you begin to like him kind of like that one uncle in your family that has no filter, but you know doesn't mean to be offensive. Earl learns just as we do. VERY good movie. Another 5 star...incredibly it's based on the life of Leo Sharp at 90. He was a drug mule who died in 2016 at 92.

Eastwood should at least get an Oscar nod although it's Rami's award this year. I LOVED seeing my boo Ignacio "Nacho" Serricho finally get a role deserving of his talent. In my dream world he'd be nominated for Best Supporting Actor at this year's Academy Awards.

I did feel like Bradley Cooper phoned it in. He wasn't his usual intense self. Or maybe he's just that good I didn't notice. Either way the movie is great.

Nicole Kidman WILL win her second Academy Award for this film. Just wow. And well deserved.

Nicole plays LA Detective Erin Bell who's been chasing the man that killed her boyfriend years ago, which has taken a toll on her health and looks. This movie is gritty. You've NEVER seen Nicole like this ever. Like ever. She's not even recognizable in most of the movie.

My boo Sebastian Stan plays her former partner and lover. Toby Kebbell makes a chilling villain. And the writing wow. The film, director, Nicole, and writers will get Oscar nods. I PRAY Sebastian does too. He is so underrated. 5 stars!!!!!

Felicity Jones perfectly portrays Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg from the time she enters Harvard Law School, married to 2nd year law student Martin Ginsburg (played by future Academy Award nominee Armie Hammer) and mom of a young daughter named Jane. Felicity IS Ruth in every frame of this film and will no doubt be nominated for an Academy Award, but the Oscar should go to Nicole Kidman in Destroyer...just wow.

Back to this film brilliantly acted and written. One of my fave biopics. And it gave me an insight into how far we've come on gender issues. Easily five star movie.

Escape Room

Lord Jesus!!!!! This movie is the first movie in history that made me forget I was in a movie theater. My legs were THRASHING at one particular part. People are calling it Saw? Try Saw on acid. This movie is so intense, I had to take a beat when it was over.
Easy 4 out of 5 stars ONLY because some characters were cliches, but also characters supposedly working together talked to themselves alot and held ideas. It made it hard to root for one character over the other when they all did it.
I liked seeing Deborah Ann Woll, from "True Blood," and being introduced to the crazy talented Taylor Russell.
But I must say Jay Ellis, and his fiiiiiiine self, made me forget he was Lawrence from Insecure. I wanted to slap him and make out w him at the same time. That boy can act. And bravo to the director...and God! 10 years ago the hot guy w his shirt off in a slasher flick would never have been a tall, dark, handsome actor. Can't say that in 2019.
One of my new fave slasher flicks. Hopefully there will be a sequel...
