Lizzie Borden Took An Ax

Lizzie Borden Took an Axe (2014)
Lizzie Borden, a resident of Fall River MA, discovered the body of her father Andrew dead on the foyer couch with 11 ax marks to his face. Upstairs her stepmother Abby was axed to death after trying to change bed sheets. Lizzie was the only person in the house at the time and her family's housemaid was outside cleaning the windows. Investigators deduce Abby was killed first two hours later Andrew. Lizzie was the prime suspect as there was a speck of blood on her dress that day.  Sounds like an episode of Law & Order SVU right? Well it's the true story of Lizzie Borden from 1892. She must've done it right? I don't think so...

House of Secrets

Lifetime does it again with another great TV movie! The underrated actress Bianca Lawson a recently divorced writer whom stays in the unfinished house she and her abusive ex shared. She meets someone who helps her get the house finished so that she can move out. In the renovation she has flashbacks of the abuse she endured at his hands...all the while someone is watching her. This man has hidden listening devices, cameras, and even a tracker on her car. Who could it be?

Flowers in the Attic

Heather Graham portrays Corrine mother of four beautiful children. When her husband Christopher Sr. dies she takes her preteen son Christopher Jr, preteen daughter Cathy, and ten year old twins Cory and Carrie. To survive them move back to Corrine's childhood home where her evil mother played perfectly by Ellen Burstyn informs Corrine her father is dying. Her father doesn't know of Corrine's children and doesn't want to. Her mother agrees to let Corrine and the kids stay under the condition the kids stay in the attic. With me so far?

Excuse Me for Living

I said I wouldn't but I HAVE to write a review on this movie...if you can call it that. It felt like a Jill Farren Phelps produced script that somehow made it to the big screen. Why JFP? Because even with the talent of Daytime Emmy nominee Melissa Archer, Daytime Emmy nominee Ewa de Cruz, Daytime Emmy nominee Tonja Walker-Davidson, Wayne Knight, Robert Vaughn, 3-Time Primetime Emmy Winner Christopher Lloyd, the sexy James McCaffrey, and the AMAZINGLY TALENTED and GORGEOUS 2-time Daytime Emmy Winner Tom Pelphrey it still sucked. So why was it so bad? Well here's why:

The Legend of Hercules

File:Hercules (2014 film) poster.jpg
Kellan Lutz takes a stab at Alcides aka Hercules. Per this movie set in Ancient Greece King Amphyitron (the sexy Scott Adkins) defeats a king and seizes his kingdom. His loving marriage with his wife Queen Alcmene and their son Prince Iphicles (played by Jared Leto 's sexy lookalike Liam Garrigan) changes with his new taste for power. He becomes a philandering, jealous cat with his wife, and a domineering father with his son. One night while praying to Hera, queen of the Gods, Queen Alcmene asks for the strength to deal with her marriage. Hera materializes in human form and tells her she's destined to bear a son named Hercules. She begs not to lay with her husband again, but Hera says she will allow Alcmene to lay with her husband Zeus, king of the Gods. That night Zeus' spirit beds Alcmene. Jealous with rage Amphyitron demands to know whom Alcmene slept with. She bites her tongue, the baby is born and named Alcides. As he grows Alcides becomes a warrior much to the dismay of his "father" King Amphyitron. When he tries running away with his girlfriend Princess Hebe they are caught. Hebe is offered to Prince Iphicles even though she loves Alcides. King Amphyitron sends Alcides on a mission to Egypt...turns out it's a death trap and Alcides along with other soldiers are ambushed. Alcides and Sotiris (sexy Liam McIntrye from Starz Spartacus) are the only survivors. When Sotiris identifies a slain soldier as Prince Alcides to the attackers, Alcides' helmet is sent back and everyone believes he's dead; meanwhile Alcides identifies himself as Hercules (a name is his mother calls him after revealing his true parentage before he left on his mission). Thus begins Hercules & Sotiris' journey back to their home, exposing whom was behind the ambush, and taking down the King and Prince. So what's my rating? 3 out of 5 stars. Why?

Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit

File:Jack Ryan Shadow Recruit poster.jpg
Chris Pine stars in this reboot of the "Jack Ryan" franchise. Starting an original story from the beginning and directed by Kenneth Branaugh this movie tells how Jack was recruited into the CIA AND how he met and fell in love with Catherine (Kiera Knightly).

Her

He tries dating and getting over his divorce, but things get so awkward he ends up accidentally falling for his Operating System. Set in the near future when he goes to upgrade his computer he requests a woman's voice which triggers a friendship. His Operating System is created by Artificial Intelligence that can evolve, feel, and live like human beings. The OS "Samantha" ends up being everything he wanted in his real-life girlfriend that he can't find.

Frozen

Based on Hans Christian's fairytale The Snow Queen "Frozen" is the story about two princesses one born with the ability to create ice/snow. An accident with the princesses as children forces their parents the King and Queen to seek the help of trolls to heal one of the hurt princesses. One side effect is the injured princess must have her memories erased of her sister's abilities. The King & Queen also decide for everyone's safety to lock their daughter up so she cannot hurt anyone else with her abilities with ice/snow leaving their other daughter confused. Then the King & Queen die tragically; the sisters must face each other again in order to save their kingdom. That's the basis for the movie. Now here's my review:

The Wolf of Wall Street

Leonardo DiCaprio is Jordan Belfort "The Wolf of Wall Street." He is the Meryl Streep of male actors as he consumes the role. Having said that here's my review.

August: Osage County

ugust: Osage County is the film adaptation of the Pulitzer Prize winning play of the same name directed by "ER" & "Shameless" Director/Executive Producer John Wells and starring Meryl Streep and Julia Roberts. I give it 3 stars here's why:

Dallas Buyers Club

File:Dallas Buyers Club poster.jpg
Matthew McConaughey plays Ron Woodruff, a TX cowboy whom discovers he has HIV after having unprotected sex with a needle user. He at first is in disbelief as the movie set in the 1980s that time it was a "gay" disease. He sets on the path of destruction. His moral compass is his Dr. Eve played by Jennifer Garner. He also meets post-operative transgendered woman Rayon played by Jared Leto. First overall I give it 5 out of 5 stars. Now for the dissection:

American Hustle

The late 1970s is the setting for this movie. Christian Bale is a local businessman married to Jennifer Lawrence but having an affair with Amy Adams. Christian and Amy get into the business of conning which puts them in Bradley Cooper's orbit, an FBI agent. Robert DeNiro, Louis CK, and Jeremy Renner appear as well. I give it 4 stars outta 5. Here's my assessment:
