13/13/13

13/13/13 (2013)
13/13/13 is a low-budget horror movie set in Present Day. Due to the leap years they add up to a 13th month in 2013. Because this violates the Mayan calendar everyone begins to go crazy. And that's what you need to know in order to watch this film. Having said that here's my review...

I'm pretty positive this movie wasn't made for Golden Globe or Oscar consideration. The storyline is original. The script isn't bad, and the acting isn't either. I've read reviews about how awful this movie is, but they aren't considering the factors I mentioned. You can't compare this movie to any other...except a Rob Zombie movie. Think an indie film version of "The Walking Dead."

Right off the bat Trae Ireland's character Jack is sympathetic. Not only is he a good actor but the man is one tall cup of hot chocolate! He's not the only one: FRIGGIN SEXY man is Jody Barton who plays Quentin (God I want to do naughty things to him) and of course Ian Roberts as the sexy crazy (6'5" and insanely gorgeous). The good thing about this movie is usually there are big breasted women in horror movies that can't act, yet in this movie there are all tall hot guys. that CAN act. Then there is the beautiful Erin Coker as Candace who not only explains a huge secret to the film, but provides the movie's emotional center. Casting was spot-on for me.

I put this in the realm of Sharknado; original idea without hamming it up. And lemme tell you how different this movie is, Trae Ireland IS the show's main character: he's Black. An original idea, breaking down cliches, and the talented YOUNG director. James Cullen Bressack is 21 years old. To watch this movie KNOWING it was written/directed by a 21 year old makes this movie that much more awesome!

Say what you want but I give it 5 out of 5 stars.
