Nebraska

Nebraska is about an elder man played to perfection by Bruce Dern who receives a letter in the mail stating he MAY have won the lottery (sort of like Publisher's Clearinghouse). He decides to walk from Billings MT to Lincoln NB to collect. Of course his two grown sons and wife object. No one thinks he's won except him, but that's not the real point. When his youngest son (Will Forte) decides to drive his dad it's an adventure that changes their lives and everyone around them.
Bruce Dern plays elderly TO PERFECTION...yup I said it twice. And it's good to see Will Forte come out from behind the super silly "MacGruber" and show his real acting chops. Bob Odenkirk (Saul from "Breaking Bad") is his older well-to-do married with kids brother, but the real scene stealer is June Quibb as the speak her mind Barbara Bush-esque matriarch. Both Bruce & June DESERVE their Oscar nods. WOW!!!! Alexander Payne's direction and writing is so sharp it cuts like a knife. It's honest and real. Stacy Keach is in a surprisingly sleazy role too. Sorry I can't stop cracking up at some of the things June Quibb's character says; she's not mean, just HONEST!

Now at first I'd say the first 20 minutes are slow, but once it builds the movie takes you on a realistic ride on what it'd be like to win money when you come from a small town. I think this may be a tiny peak into what Alexander & his family experienced when he became famous because the minute details are so personal and just RIGHT THERE! Loved it. And the end result is a great payoff.

Definitely a 5 star movie! Couldn't get enough of this movie.
