Saoirse (rhymes with inertia) Ronan plays Sacramento high school senior Christine McPherson in 2002 who wants to be called Lady Bird. She's the daughter of overbearing Marion (Laurie Metcalf) and protective, sweet Larry (Tracy Letts). Her annoying, older adoptive brother Miguel has his girlfriend Diana living with them.
The reason why this movie is so amazing is because it's real. From the moment it starts until it's Oprah "aha" moment ending by Lady Bird.
Saoirse will be nominated for an Oscar for this flawless movie as well as Laurie Metcalf. I wish Tracy Letts would be for supporting...his quiet performance broke my heart. Two breakout stars were Lucas Hedges and Timothee Chalamet as boys in Christine's orbit. Lucas was Oscar worthy as well.
Great movie to see. Highly recommend.
