This movie centers on a 5 year old boy entering kindergarten who's effeminate. His parents Greg & Alex Wheeler (Jim Parsons and Claire Danes) have different ways of dealing with him. Greg being a therapist likes to sometimes sweep things under the rug and not talk about it; while Alex as an emotionally frustrated stay-at-home mom wants to shout it out. Octavia Spencer, Priyanka Chopra, and Anne Dowd round out the cast of this movie I truly feel is groundbreaking.
We see so many movies being developed about gender ambiguous or LGBTQIA people in general, but never about those around them and how it affects them. This is a refreshing look.
Definitely worth a viewing or two. Highly recommend.
