I HATED "Us." I will give it 2 stars based on the performances of the actors.
It's the story of how doppelgängers want to take over our lives. The deeper meaning is we are never satisfied with our place in the world. The execution of said moral was HORRENDOUS!
Why did I despise this so much? Because it was cliched. Running up the stairs instead of the front door, keeping VERY dark secrets, The slow crawl away from killers, the pleading, and the dialogue was atrocious.
The thing I loved about "Get Out" is that it transcended typical horror movie bs. Not this movie. In a movie made for a black cast, white actors could've played. Why bring up race? Because we as black ppl are always told we talk in movie theaters and describe what we would do if we were the victims. Nothing at all new came out of "Us." I do not recommend this movie at all.

Triple Frontier
To rate this would be like rating McDonald's food...you know it's not good for you, but you can't stop going back. But what pisses me off about this movie is that this RIDICULOUSLY talented cast (some Oscar winners and nominees) signed on for this POS.
The mission was for a band of out of work Army buddies to go the South America, steal money from a major drug dealer, and book the hell out. They would be doing a service by putting him into a dirt nap. Of course things don't go smoothly.
I will give it 2 stars and be done with it. The characters were unlikeable, the plot was dumb, and the execution of said plot made no sense whatsoever. It was like watching a video game...a bad one.
Captive State
John Goodman is a Chicago cop, Vera Farmiga is a prostitute with a past to John, and Ashton Sanders is an unknowing revolutionary figure. Oh and Machine Gun Kelly is surprisingly a good actor...again (check him out in Bird box).
I know it IS a lot better than it sounds. I don't give away spoilers so I tried to keep it as basic as possible. If you're into sci-fi you'll like this. Trust me.
Captain Marvel
One of my fave Marvel movies. "Captain Marvel" isn't the typical superhero movie. What I love about it is that it doesn't follow an actual formula. As far as special effects it's not revolutionary, but the story is great. The acting is top-notch. No spoilers, but worth me going to see it a second time! Easily 5 stars out of 5. Keep reading...
Free Solo
"Free Solo" is the story of Alex Honnold, an on the spectrum free soloist aka mountain climber without gear, as he attempts the impossible: climbing El Capitan at Yosemite.
This year long journey changes Alex as a person. It's sweet and fun to watch and scary as hell. Even though you KNOW this is real and not a Hollywood production, you almost think "that didn't happen." But it did.
Once Upon A Deadpool
"Once Upon A Deadpool" is a hard no. The PG-rated version of "Deadpool 2" takes the bite outta the entire heart of the movie. 3 stars out of 5.
The Front Runner
2 stars out of 5. Hugh's performance was superb, but that's it. #HatedIt
Mary Queen of Scots
I wish I had more to say, but ugh....
Greta
"Greta" is a wonderfully creepy movie where Isabelle Huppert plays Greta, a woman whom Chloe Grace Moretz (Frances) returns her black purse to which was left on the train. Unfortunately Frances gets more than what she bargained for as Greta turns psychotic.
The movie is about loss and how when we are at our most vulnerable we make obviously dumb decision simply to cure the grief.
Acting, writing, direction were awesome; I wish Isabelle would get nominated for an Oscar. Loved this movie.
Mortal Engines
Apollo 11
Easy 5 stars out of 5. My only question is how they got the shots they did. Like in outer space showing the ship and all that. It was interesting and cool to watch actual footage.
Serenity
The coolest thing about this movie is the poster. Terrible movie, terrible acting, terrible script. Don't waste your time. 1 star out of 5 simply because of the build-up.
