The Peanut Butter Falcon

Three people on a raft
"The Peanut Butter Falcon" is one of the best movies I've ever seen. 5 out of 5 stars. Keep reading...
A Down Syndrome man named Zak (Zack Gottsagen) escapes a retirement home the state put him in to go to his fave TV wrestler The Salt Walter Redneck (Thomas Haden Church)'s training camp; his biggest ally Eleanor (Dakota Johnson) is charged with finding him and bringing him back. Meanwhile scavenger fisherman Tyler (Shia LaBeouf) is pissing off local fisherman by his methods of getting crabs; he's being pursued by Duncan (John Hawkes) and Ratboy (Yelawolf). When Tyler and Zak's paths cross an unlikely friendship begins. Watch for a hilarious supporting role from Bruce Dern as Zak's roommate.

95% on Rotten Tomatoes and so well deserved. So good and funny. Zak is aware he has Down's and open about it. There's one scene where Tyler says "I don't care that you have Down's." And when Tyler gets sad and puts his head on Zak's shoulder Shia's vulnerability as an actor shines.

If I had my way Zack and Shia would be nominated for Best Actor in a Leading Role at the Oscars and Golden Globes. Yeah they are really both leads; although the story REALLY is about Zack's character. If Shia was supporting that'd also be appropriate. But wow what a great feel-good story. Worth watching.
