Everyone has been clamoring about 'Orange is the New Black' (Netflix original) so here's my review. Keep reading..

This show is about Piper, a while preppy from CT who turns herself in after being named in an international drug smuggling ring. Piper played by Taylor Schilling (the girl who felt up Zac Efron's booty in "The Lucky One") is imprisoned after she confesses to being a drug mule for her former lesbian lover sometime after college. Her fiance Larry (Jason Biggs) supports her as well as her family. In the same women's federal prison Martha Stewart was locked up in Piper meets a host of characters (Crazy Eyes - a girl whom becomes obsessed with her, Red - redheaded Russian woman who runs the kitchen, Sophia - the transwoman who runs the salon, etc) including the ex-girlfriend who sent her to prison Alex (played by Laura Prepon)! Pablo Schreiber plays the villainous CO to perfection with a creepy pornstache (is it weird I think he's HOT though?) with Matt McGorry playing his exact opposite (it's not weird that I think he's SUPER hot). Love that character actors and my faves from all other shows are featured (I love to hate Taryn Manning; Kate Mulgrew is SUBLIME as Red accent and all).

The acting, writing, and direction are ON POINT! Definitely give it 5 out of 5 stars. Very detail oriented. They take every cliche and turn them on their ear. Unlike people become friends. Enemies become friends. And EVERY character is well-fleshed out even the people I'm suppose to hate (Red is my favorite). My ONLY gripe is anything that happens is Piper's fault. The roof can fall, and Piper is to blame. And she NEVER defends herself. It gets a little old. Highlight was seeing Pablo's bum tho LoL I mean it's not a full bubble more like a fit bum.

If you want a good series watch this show. It recently concluded its first season (13 episodes). It took me 2 full days to watch all back to back WHILE I was watching my normal programming. And you won't be disappointed I guarantee.

UPDATE: Now that the series is done, I am going to give it 4 stars out of 5.

At first #OrangeIsTheNewBlack was great. A comedic, female version of "Oz." Typically if you look at every TV show season 3 is the best season. With this show season 2 is he best. With the first season you think you have the characters figured out. And slowly each season you find out more and more about how each character got imprisoned.

The reason why the show loses 1 star is for consistency. There are some characters that evolve because the writers want them to evolve, when the other characters DON'T evolve characters accompanying them make excuses or the writers will. For example Suzanne "Crazy Eyes" Warren (two time Emmy winner Uzo Aduba) CONSTANTLY screams and has long speeches since season 1; at first ppl told her to stop, and she was reprimanded like a normal character would. NOW because she's an Emmy winner she gets to scream and yell, but other characters don't get to do that. Almost EVERY Correctional Officer that's introduced is evil; when one is let go they turn evil. Characters are put through the ringer ONLY because the writers want Emmy consideration.

Laverne Cox was the first transactress nominated for a competitive acting awards as Sophia Burset (the hairstyling inmate with a past), Danielle Brooks as Tasha "Taystee" Jefferson is a strong character, but Laura Gomez as the kinda crazy and dirty Blanca Flores, Adrienne C Moore as Cindy "Black Cindy" Hayes, Elizabeth Rodriguez as Aledia Diaz, Kate Mulgrew as Galina "Red" Reznokiv, and Yael Stone as Lorna Morello are my absolute favorite.

Season 1 was the best, season 2 was the second best, seasons 3, 6, and 7 were kinda bad. Season 4 was GUT WRENCHING (leads up to Poussey's death).  Season 5 was MEH!

Still worth watching on a whole.
