"Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets" is a good movie, but not a great movie...here's why

My main and only real problem with the movie is the casting of Dane DeHaan. Robert Pattinson would've been perfect for this role. Dane is too awkward and quirky to play a romantic lead in a big action adventure like this. That is actually what ruined it for me.

The movie itself is about two Federal Agents for the United Human Federation work to recover what is believed to be a mythical artifact from a planet that no longer exists. Pearls were found on the planet Mul and they could bring unspeakable energy when utilized.

The movie is part "Avatar" and part "Star Wars." Again I just wish the male lead was different. Everything else worked from the reason and villain to the Mul people. And of course Luc Besson created a world James Cameron would be really pissed off about.

Go see it for the special effects alone.
