I am going to give it 4 out of 5 stars for something two reasons. Keep reading...

So the name is "Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw" but the movie NEVER ONCE does flashbacks or actually makes a tie-in to "Fast & Furious" franchise. They briefly mention things, but in the VERY beginning if they did a recap via photo montage or clips it would've been a perfect action film for me.

Premise is Luke Hobbs (Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson) must work with Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham) to secure the global virus Snowflake. Unfortunately Deckard's sister Hattie (Vanessa Kirby) has injected herself with the virus so not only do they need to extract the virus from her and save her life in 48 hours, but they need to thwart Brixton Lore (Idris Elba), a super soldier human.

The things I love are how they used not only typical action film genre stunts and standards, but that they incorporated The Rock's Samoan ancestry into the movie by having the film end in Samoa. It was nice seeing Roman Reigns and the insanely sexy Joshua Mauga. But Lori Pelenise Tuisano stole the show as Luke's mother. It's rare to see things like this occur in film showing a character's background.

The acting is very good actually. Idris is a component and RIDICULOUSLY sexy bad guy. Jason Statham is at his best ever in this movie opposite The Rock. I do love how The Rock has a trend of teaming up with major stars instead of being solo lead.

Now the other reason it wasn't 5 star for me is Rob Delaney, Kevin Hart, and Ryan Reynolds were in the film. I LOVE Rob Delaney first off; he's one of my top 20 celeb crushes. But I feel the combo of all three was too much. Rob & Ryan were in Deadpool 2 and Kevin was in Central Intelligence & Jumanji 2 with The Rock. It felt like nepotism and overexposure. Rob was funny, but Kevin AND Ryan...too much.

Overall good summer action movie. Ps stay to the very end there are 5 extra credit scenes.
