Pitch Perfect 2

The Pitches are back. Pitch Perfect 2 was just as funny, original, and well-executed as the first one. Incredible 4 star movie, but it does slip a bit. Keep reading...
So it has all the charm and wit of the first. This installment sees Beca and the girls having to defend their title after Fat Amy (hilariously played by Rebel Wilson) accidentally shows the President her coocah at his bday performance. To win back their dignity they must compete in the World Accapella Contest against new archenemies, German A Capella group Das Sound Machine. The execution of the story is awesome. Save for a few minor hiccups.

Beca is unnecessarily secretive about her internship at a record company, none of the characters save for Gail & John (director Elizabeth Banks & John Michael Higgins respectively) are as funny at delivering one-liners than Fat Amy, and all the romances fall insanely flat. The relationship between Fat Amy & Bumper is the only saving grace, but I won't tell you anything that happens. Adam DeVine is perfectly timed with Rebel Wilson. It's like they were made for each other; they have chemistry, are so cute together I almost want them to date in real-life. If it weren't for them this movie would royally suck. Oh and it has Katey Segal as a former Bella who's daughter (Academy Award nominee Hailee Steinfeld) wants to also be a Bella (rolls eyes)...if you read my blog you know I detest Katey Segal. Wonder if her husband producer Kurt Sutter got her this job UGH

But the movie does have a ton of positives which cancel these bad things out. First watching players of The Green Bay Packers (especially Clay Matthews sing is worth the price of admission). Keegan-Michael Key is just as funny as Rebel Wilson as Beca's boss at the record company. And Ben Platt as Benji Applebaum is SO hot in his "acccaweird nerdness" he kinda outshines resident hottie Skylar Astin (check out Ben's bubble butt btw). Oh and I cannot forget the members of Das Sound Machine. Flula is the tall hot German man you wanna kiss and Birgitte Hjort Sørensen is the German woman you want to kiss. They are both stunning gorgeous, funny, and talented.

Overall a good movie. Just as funny, original, and well-executed as the first.
