James Franco plays Tommy Wiseau, a wannabe actor with a strange accent and hidden upbringing, alongside his younger brother Dave Franco (playing model/actor Greg Sestero). Greg and Tommy are in the same acting class in the 1998 when Greg asks Tommy to be his scene partner. Thus begins a decades long friendship and one of Hollywood's cult classics.
The film, based on the book of the same name by Greg Sestero, tells the tale of two VERY DIFFERENT strangers that become lifelong friends and film partners in "The Room" (not to be confused in any way shape or form with "Room" Brie Larson won her Oscar for). "The Room" is soooooooooo bad when it was released on June 27, 2003 it grossed $1800 even though it was made for $6 million.
I won't give you any more details other than the Franco brothers knocked this out of the park. James DESERVES an Oscar nomination, but it's Jake Gyllenhaal's year for Stronger to win an Oscar. It'd be great if the movie was also recognized as well as James' directing. Who knows maybe there could be a tie for Best Actor :)
