The Post

"The Post" is a great movie, but it needs to tread lightly. Keep reading...

This movie is a 4 out of 5 star movie. There is nothing wrong with this movie as it tackles free speech in the press...except the people that make this film will shut down stalkerazzi.

Before I begin lemme say Meryl and Tom were outstanding. The direction from Steven Spielberg was insane. One scene where Meryl as Kay Graham (owner of The Washington Post) leans back to talk to Tom as Ben Bradlee (reporter for The Washington Post). It's very slight as she goes to close the door, and he is still talking to her. That shot was just so perfect. And it's indicative of the movie's tone. It was that shot in the trailer that made me wanna see it to be honest.

The story is 4 presidents covered up the fact that we were losing the Vietnam War but instead of withdrawing troops they kept them there. The New York Times published official documents and were dragged into court which forced TNYT to stop printing classified documents. Now the same source gave The Washington Post the same material, and Kay must figure out whether to publish the documents or not.

Back to my point yes this was a great film about Free Speech, but they need to be careful. Free Speech doesn't include just the press. They also need to realize it gives stalkerazzi a claim that what they do is needed by the press too. That is why it doesn't get a 5 star review for me. It's a one sided press pass, but figures the other media. But I love the parallel it pays to the current Presidential regime. Very timely.

The film, director Steven Spielberg, Tom, Meryl, and Bob Odenkirk deserve Oscar nods.
