Dennis Quaid plays a recently widowed military man with 8 biological children moving back to New London CT. He bumps into the widowed handbag designer mom of 4 biological kids and adoptive mom of 8 children. Turns out they use to be high school sweethearts. After a spontaneous marriage they combine their family of 20 and of course things go awry. Throw in Linda Hunt as Dennis Quaid's faithful housekeeper.
The entire story is predictable, but the execution isn't. Everything about this movie makes you feel warm and fuzzy inside even the ending. I loved everything about this movie. It's just so good and sweet. I love movies with heart and simplicity. You will too.
