Desna (Niecy Nash) is the owner of a nail salon that cleans money for a drug business run by Uncle Daddy (Dean Norris aka Bruce Willis' stunt double). Uncle Daddy is the uncle and stepfather of Roller (the ridiculously underrated Jack Kesy) and Bryce (Kevin Rankin), who is also married to Desna's best friend/right hand at the salon Jennifer (Jenn Lyon). The nail salon is run by Desna with Jennifer, Polly (Emmy Winner Carrie Preston) who just got out of prison, and lesbian thug Quiet Ann (played by former "Devious Maids" castmate Judy Reyes). Adding to the crazy is newcomer Virginia (played by the wildly talented Karrueche Tran) and Desna's autistic brother Dean ("Lost" Harold Perrineau).
The show is addicting, over-the-top, and witty. When you think they won't go there, they do. When you think they've gone too far, they go further. It's truly a great show.
The breakout stars for me? Legit EVERYONE! Judy Reyes played a married maid in "Devious Maids" who was outspoken and ballsy. In this show she plays a lesbian that rarely even speaks, but will eff you up. Niecy last played in "Scream Queens" as a gossipy over-the-top security guard whereas Desna is all about her money, her brother, and her dreams. Even Harold playing an autistic man is a leap from being the dad who only cares about his son Walt in "Lost." I love that every actor took a risk to take this job and be on this show. LOVE IT!
I'm not giving away any spoilers, but very good show...and I'm obsessed with Jack Kesy. I cannot wait for season 2.
