To start the chemistry between Clay Clynes and Damon Wayans is inspiring. Seeing Damon play it "straight" is refreshing.
Premise is still the same: Damon plays Lt. Roger "Rog" Murtaugh, married dad of 2 teens and 1 baby. Clay plays Martin Riggs, crazy widower. Their captain is Cpt Brooks Avery played by Kevin Rahm.
The storylines are fresh, the dialogue is fun (they do pay homage to the films here and there), and the acting is superb. My ONLY gripe is Leo Getz. Leo is an over-the-top, fast talking con artist/lawyer. You are to believe he'll rob you then help you sue your neighbor successfully for the crime. Now I LOVE Thomas Lennon as an actor ("Sean Saves The World" and "17 Again"), but he's not Leo Getz. If anyone it'd be Wayne Knight or Jason Alexander. Seeing Jason with a toupee as Leo trying to get clients at a hospital would've been TV Heaven. I also love that they explore Riggs' wife's murder and Murtaugh's family more than the 4 movies could.
Overall this is a solid show. It's like watching a buddy cop movie every week.
