Lizzie Borden Took An Ax

Lizzie Borden, a resident of Fall River MA, discovered the body of her father Andrew dead on the foyer couch with 11 ax marks to his face. Upstairs her stepmother Abby was axed to death after trying to change bed sheets. Lizzie was the only person in the house at the time and her family's housemaid was outside cleaning the windows. Investigators deduce Abby was killed first two hours later Andrew. Lizzie was the prime suspect as there was a speck of blood on her dress that day.  Sounds like an episode of Law & Order SVU right? Well it's the true story of Lizzie Borden from 1892. She must've done it right? I don't think so...
Back in the day they didn't have two things showers and hair dryers. Lizzie would've had to kill her stepmother, bathe, dry her hair, and then repeat with her dad. The prosecution said she killed them both naked. Even then she'd still have to bathe and dry her hair. Plus that much blood woulda left foot trails no? During her trial a woman was axed to death in her home. So did Lizzie do it or was there someone in the house hiding and lying in wait?

Overall I loved this movie. Christina Ricci as Lizzie Borden was amazing. As was Clea Duvall as Emma Borden, her sister. The thing about Christina's portrayal is she never portrays her as innocent or guilty. It's always borderline, and I love it. I can't figure it out.

I'd give it four stars out of five. Very good!!!!
